Our History

Full Circle Alliance, Inc. was established in Colorado in 2018 by Chrissy and Dave McFarren, who are also the owners of Badger Creek Ranch. Before purchasing Badger Creek Ranch in 2015 and moving to Colorado in 2016, Chrissy and Dave lived in West Virginia, where they owned a 15 acre farm called Full Circle Farm. During their 16 years at Full Circle Farm, they shared it with a variety of animals including horses (full-size and miniature), llamas, donkeys, goats, pigs, chickens, and of course, cats and dogs. In the mid-2000s they converted their barn into a retreat center and began hosting workshops and retreats there. At about this same time Chrissy began learning about Equine Assisted Therapy. Having been a horsewoman her entire adult life, and having experienced first-hand the healing power of horses, she decided to become a certified Equine Specialist so she could work with therapists and the horses at Full Circle Farm to bring therapeutic healing to others.

In 2010 Full Circle Farm Growth and Healing Center, Inc. was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit with its primary mission being to bring equine-assisted growth and healing to members of the community. Over the next five years Chrissy and her horses worked with several local therapists and their patients with great success.

In 2014, after several trips out west, Chrissy and Dave decided it was time for a change. The search for a ranch in Colorado began and in early 2015 Badger Creek Ranch was purchased. In 2016 they put their beloved Full Circle Farm on the market and made the move to Colorado official. Over the next couple of years, they busied themselves running a guest ranch and starting a meat business, but they soon realized that a lot of the work done at the ranch was about trying to restore the land, which had been severely over-grazed for over a hundred years. Using regenerative agriculture practices such as rotational grazing, they began the long, slow process of restoring the land. They realized that this socially beneficial work was best done under a non-profit, so Full Circle Alliance was born.

For the first several years Full Circle Alliance and its small board of directors supported land health workshops at the ranch and sponsored agricultural interns who would work at the ranch during the summer guest season. Then at the beginning of 2022 the board was expanded, and they started looking at how Full Circle Alliance could do more. They realized that, in order to do more beneficial work, they needed to solicit the support of both the local meat-buying customers, and the former guests at the ranch, so the Badger Creek Ranch Community membership program was launched.
