The public is invited to the ranch for a community field day of education. This event is free for all.
Come hear the story of collaboration for change: ranchers, government and state organizations, Central Colorado Conservancy, EcoMetrics, nonprofits and more.
Light fare, featuring Badger Creek Ranch beef, will be offered, and you’re welcome to bring your own picnic lunch and other refreshments. Children are welcome and please leave your sweet dogs at home.

There are times in our lives that require intentional “retreat” into the wilderness in order to fall in love with ourselves and re-discover our purpose. This is that retreat. Join Full Circle Alliance and Guidestone Colorado at Badger Creek Ranch for a day of life on the ranch. This family program is an opportunity to get hands-on with the work and fun that goes into operating a working ranch. Experience caring for and feeding the animals, an exploratory hike to the historic Buffalo Jump, and an afternoon of crafts, wagon rides, and special treats to round out the day.
Cost:
$75 for a parent & child pair
$25 for each additional parent or child in the same family
Location:
Badger Creek Ranch is located at 5795 County Road 2 in Cañon City and is accessed from County Road 175 in Salida. Allow for one hour of drive time from Salida!

WE ARE EXCITED TO RETURN TO BADGER CREEK RANCH FOR OUR THIRD ANNUAL LAND HEALTH WORKSHOP AND HOPE YOU JOIN US FOR 1.5 DAYS OF LANDSCAPE ASSESSMENT, HOLISTIC MANAGEMENT, RIPARIAN RESTORATION, AND SOIL CONSERVATION!
During the workshop, participants will learn to read the landscape to better understand surface flow and process and get hands-on instruction for building erosion control structures—including one rock dams, rock rundowns, and media lunas. This year’s workshop will also include an interactive field tour with Badger Creek Ranch and their collaborators, which will provide participants with the opportunity to view ongoing projects on the ranch and engage in conversations regarding the considerations, decisions, and resources needed to plan and implement holistic management and restoration projects in riparian and upland areas. This workshop is perfect for ranchers, land managers, beginning agrarians/land stewards/students, and anyone else looking to improve their skills and knowledge of erosion control, riparian restoration, and holistic management.

Gloves and tools will be provided during the workshop. Camping is available on the ranch – participants are responsible for camping gear, meals, and water. This workshop is free to attend. Space is limited. Deadline to register is 5pm on August 13th.

Additional Program Activity Details
Hike and explore the historical Buffalo Jump to experience where Native American tribes would gather for annual bison harvests, and the teepee rings where the families would stay during their time in this area.
Participate in ranch chores: feeding the sheep and chickens, collecting eggs.
Meet the ranch horses who help make ranch work possible. Learn about horse behavior and grooming and see the tack used to work cows out on the range.
Take in the landscape of the ranch on an afternoon wagon ride with Poncho and Lefty. This is a great chance to check out the plow, sleigh, and carriage that the horses can pull to help with plowing, transportation, and more.
Complete a craft project to remember your day at the ranch.
Enjoy a watermelon and homemade ice cream party to finish out a fun day!

This workshop is perfect for ranchers, land managers, beginning agrarians/students, and anyone else looking to improve their skills and knowledge on rangeland management and monitoring. Tools and handouts will be provided during the workshop. Attendees are welcome to camp Thursday and Friday night at the ranch and will be responsible for meals and camping gear.
